Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT or Tapping)
EFT has its origins more than 5,000 years ago, in the ancient Taoist monasteries, where the subtle energies and meridians that travel throughout the body were first mapped.
Dr George Goodheart, the founder of Applied Kinesiology, Dr Roger Callahan, the founder of TFT (Thought Field Therapy) and John Diamond, a psychiatrist were crucial to the development of EFT. In the early 90’s one of Dr Callahan’s students, Gary Craig simplified the complicated TFT process making it applicable for all mental, emotional and physical issues and called it EFT.
EFT is an emotional healing meridian technique which is also capable of relieving many physical symptoms. Its basis is that ‘the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system’. It is a mind/body healing technique because it combines the physical effects of meridian treatments with the mental effects of focusing on the pain or problem at the same time.
It is a truly remarkable therapy and one that can easily be used as a self-help tool.
